Q1 How did you get started in rallying?
My dad was always involved in one way or another and theres a lot interest locally in the sport

Q2 First event you competed on?
Well I started in autocross at 16 at Harrington’s Quarry in Mayo but my first tarmac rally was the Galway Int Junior Rally this year.

Q3 How many rallies do you compete in during a year?
2-3 Stages Rallys plus sprints and autocrosses

Q4 Favourite rally car?
Tough one…..split decision between Skoda Fabia WRC and Toyota Starlet RWD

Q5 Favourite rally driver?
Kris Meeke

Q6 What sort of pace notes do you use and anything they could do to improve them?
I use Killian Duffy’s notes, theyre excellent I never have to change much in them.

Q7 One thing you would change in Irish Rallying?
I know its not easy but if we could reduce costs at all it would be great and come up with a plan to develop young drivers better similar to what the French do.

Q8 Most memorial moment in Rallying?
Winning the Mayo Young Drivers Championship last year

Q9 The moment you would most like to forget in rallying?
The moment I realised that we would never see Colin McRae on the stages ever again

Q10 If you had €50,000 to spend on rallying, what would you do?
Buy the ultimate RWD Starlet and just do as many rallys as I could

Q11 Who in your opinion is the best young Irish driver at the moment?
Keith Cronin, but Craig Breen and Ali Fisher are not far behind

Q12 What would be the best tip you could give to competitors starting out in rallying?
Start in something like autocross where its cheap and work you’re way up

Q13 Your favourite stage you competed on?
The Black Road on the Galway International

Q14 Who in rallying has influenced you most to date?
My aul fella keeps me on the straight and narrow in more ways than one!

Q15 After 1 year with the new Hans equipment what is your opinion of the safety device?
Anything that makes it safer in the car is a good thing. Found it awkward at first but fine once ya get used to it.

Q16 What tyre manufacture do you use and why? (Driver only)
Kumho, they have a good mixture of grip and tyre life.
