Question Time
Q1 How did you get started in rallying?
Always been in the family.. Was at Donegal International when I was 2 weeks old so probably caught the bug then!

Q2 First event you competed on?
Castle Single Stage 2006

Q3 How many rallies do you compete in during a year?
6-8

Q4 Favourite rally car?
Starlet with a 2.5 Millington! Although the new Fiesta S2000 looks like a serious machin!

Favourite rally driver?
Kris Meeke

Q6 What sort of pace notes do you use and anything they could do to improve them?
Write our own – Numbers, 1 fastest..

Q7 One thing you would change in Irish Rallying?
I'd like if the clubman could get more reward for a successful days rallying? A bit unrealistic maybe but I think what Kerry MC are doing in creating an incentive for competitors to enter their event is brilliant. I hope it works out for them and they have a packed entry list and then maybe other clubs will follow suit in the future.

Q8 Most memorial moment in Rallying?
Winning Donegal International Juniors on the last stage in 2009.

Q9 The moment you would most like to forget in rallying?
I suppose a rather embarrassing off in Mayo 2008 in front of a lot of people and cameras..

Q10 If you had €50,000 to spend on rallying, what would you do?
Upgrade the engine and gear box but stay in class 11 and do the full National Championship and the Rally of the Lakes and Donegal International

Q11 Who in your opinion is the best young Irish driver at the moment?
Obviously Cronin and Breen, Daniel McKenna is as quick as any driver in the country in my opinion and Kevin O’Connor seems to be going very hard for a class 9 car.

Q12 What would be the best tip you could give to competitors starting out in rallying?
Get mileage under your belt in your first few events and forget about the clock!
Keep the head if you catch someone!
And finally, The recce and pacenotes are the key to going quick in my opinion.

Q13 Your favourite stage you competed on?
Atlantic Drive

Q14 Who in rallying has influenced you most to date?
Dad

Q15 After 1 year with the new Hans equipment what is your opinion of the safety device?
Found it slighty awkward at first but felt grand after a stage or 2. However, I’m not sure how much it would actually do for me in a crash? But rules are rules and 35euro per event to hire one isn’t a whole lot on top of all other costs I don’t think.

Q16 What tyre manufacture do you use and why? (Driver only)
Dunlop.. Started with them and know them well.. Too much hassle trying to experiment and learn the compounds of different manufacturers
